What is EMStock? | ||
| EMStock
is a unique EMS conference. The purpose of EMStock is to bring together
EMS providers from across the world for an informal weekend of fellowship,
fun, entertainment, quality continuing education, and networking. EMStock
was the brainchild of several EMS providers. The name was derived from the
famous Woodstock event held over 40 years ago. EMStock was first held in
2003 and two years subsequently. Huricanes Katrina and Rita took resources
and personnel during 2006. For 2008, EMStock is back and being held in the
fall when there is less competition with other events and cooler weather. The event is held on a large estate south of Dallas, Texas. Primitive and RV camping is permitted on the estate. Educational courses are conducted in large tents and similar structures. A large vendor tent allows exhibitors to display and demonstrate the latest in EMS products. Basic facilities (i.e., porta-pots, showers, trash cans) are provided. A salt-water swimming pool is on the premises. A large open air stage, with a professional sound system, provides a fantastic venue for live entertainment. Saturday is typically the biggest day with a Teas chili and Texas barbecue cook off. Other events include an EMS scenario competition and vendor demonstrations.Numerous EMS products will be auctioned and there will be numerous door prizes. In lieu of on-site camping, new hotels are nearby in the communities of Waxahachie, Mansfield, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Duncanville, and Midlothian. The prevailing premise of EMStock is that all attendees are there for the same reasons: education, fellowship, and fun. Because of this, we ask that egos and certifications be checked at the gate. Dress is casual and the tone is very informal. Weather in late September typically is warm (80 degrees) during the day and cool (60 degrees) during the night. |
